Ahuachapán

Ahuachapán is a town in western El Salvador. It is the capital of the department of the same name.

In Ahuachapán there is a geothermal power plant and a hydropower plant. Due to the geothermal activity there is in the surrounding hills many fumaroles.

Ahuachapán is the birthplace of the poet Alfredo Espino and is about an hour's drive from the National Park El Imposible away.
