Ai Shibata

Ai Shibata (Japanese柴 田 亜 衣, Ai Shibata, born May 14, 1982 in Dazaifu, Fukuoka ) is a Japanese swimmer.

At the 2004 Olympics in Athens, she was Olympic champion over 800 m freestyle. About 400 m freestyle she reached 5th place at the World Championships in 2005 in Montreal, they then won the silver medal in the 400 m freestyle and bronze in the 800 m freestyle. In the following 2007 World Championships in Melbourne she reached two bronze medals in the 400m and 1500m freestyle.
