Far from the village Aichelberglifte the Federal Highway 8 runs with the junction Aichelberglifte. The slope of the Aichelberglifte has already been used in the construction of the highway in the Third Reich for the Albaufstieg, overcoming about 380 vertical meters of the northern Albrandes, which is also called Albtrauf. The Aichelberglifte there is a now dried-up valley that cuts into the Alb. The valley floor is about half the height between the foothills and plateau. The rise could be divided into two parts, the Aichelberglifte and Drackensteiner slope.
The rise next to the Aichelberglifte mastered originally a long, curved bridge, the Aichelberglifte Viaduct. In expanding the route between 1985 and 1990, this bridge was completely removed and replaced by a three-lane climb into an incision with a short tunnel, the green bridge, which was obtained as a game trail. The expansion brought the community Aichelberglifte for some years the largest highway construction site in Europe.
