Aichi D1A

The Aichi D1A (Japanese九四 式 舰上 爆 撃 机, kyūyon - shiki KANJO bakugekiki, dt as: "Type -94 carrier-based bomber " Allied code name Susie ) was a Japanese carrier-based dive bomber in World War II. It was developed in the framework of the German -Japanese cooperation with Heinkel based on the Heinkel He 50. The D1A was a biplane with fixed landing gear.

Were built two variants: the 162- D1A1 and D1A2 with the 428 copies. The first flight took place in 1934 (after damaligem Japanese calendar: Kōki 2594, therefore, the Japanese type designation). Production stopped in 1940. The last machine went out of service in 1942.

These units were stationed on the carriers Akagi, Kaga and Ryujo.
