History and construction

In 1973, Taiwan's AIDC started the development of a civil transport aircraft. The machine was a high wing. In order to satisfy both civil and military requirements, ordered the XC -2 via a motorable rear ramp, similar to the CASA C- 212. The aircraft had a retractable tricycle landing gear, with the main landing gear was retracted on both sides in the box -shaped hull and could also land on unprepared pistes and start again. The two Turboproptriebwerken powered prototype took off for the first time on 26 February 1978., The machine could transport 38 passengers or 3855 kg cargo with a crew of three ( two pilots, one flight engineer ).

The XC -2 was built on the basis of lack of interest of potential customers, not in series.
