Aigars Cipruss

Aigars Cipruss ( born January 12, 1972 in Riga ) is a former Latvian ice hockey player who works as a trainer since 2010. Since 2013 he has been head coach of HC Baltica Vilinus from the MHL B and the Lithuanian U20 National Hockey Team.

Career

Aigars Cipruss began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Pārdaugava Riga, for the first team he from 1990 to 1992 in Wysschaja League, the highest Soviet league, and then for two years in their successor competition, the International Hockey League was active. Then, the Center went to North America, where he worked in the following three years for the Atlanta Knights, Grand Rapids Griffins and Rafales de Québec in the International Hockey League, the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League, the ECHL Nashville Knights in Muskegon and the Fury played in the Colonial Hockey League.

From 1997 to 2003 Cipruss stood in the Finnish SM- liiga on the ice, but remained in any team over a longer period. In Finland, he played for Lukko Rauma, the Pelicans Lahti, Helsinki Jokerit, HIFK Helsinki Jokerit and finally Lappeenranta. For the season 2003/ 04 he joined the HK Spartak Moscow from the Wysschaja League, the second Russian league, at. With the capital club, he immediately achieved promotion to the Super League, in which he scored five goals and nine assists in the 2004/05 season in 56 games. For the season 2005/06 Lette returned to his hometown and took the HK Riga 2000 in the game operation of the Belarusian Extraliga part. The 2006/07 season he began at DHK Latgale in the Latvian Hockey League, joined, however, after only three games Asiago from Italy's Serie A1.

The season 2007/ 08 spent Cipruss at EfB Ishockey in the Danish AL-Bank Ligaen. For the following season, he signed a contract with Dinamo Riga, for a total of 35 games, he scored a goal and an assist each in the Kontinental Hockey League newly established. In parallel, he was in 18 games for his former club HK Riga 2000 in the Belarusian Extraliga on the ice. For the 2009/10 season the Olympian was in 2006 obliged by HK Ozolnieki / Monarhs, for which he has since then played in the Latvian Hockey League.

Internationally

For Latvia Cipruss participated in the C- 1993 World Series, the B World Cup 1994 and the A World Championships in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2009 in part. In addition, he was in the squad of his country at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.
