AIK Handboll

AIK Handboll is the name of the Handball section of the Swedish club AIK ( Allmänna Idrottsklubben ) of Solna.

In the club about 260 members in 20 teams organized (as of 2007).

The section of the Handball AIK was founded in 1943 on the initiative of Nils- Yngve Bolling as a pure gentleman handball club. It existed initially until 1980, but the team is 1951 Swedish champion, and current as of the start-up in 2003, also with a women's team, on the initiative of Jan -Erik Pettersson and Per- Arne Jonsson.

Among the well-known players include Kjell Jönsson (World Champion 1954, World Champion 1958) and Lennart ring (World Champion 1958).

After severe economic problems in the late 1970s the game was shut down, according to the 1979/ 1980, the team of Täby HBK was taken.

In 2003, the game operation was resumed. The men's team started norra in Division 1. The team reached the summit in the Allsvenskan, Sweden's second highest league. After the 2007/ 08 season, the Executive Board of the Association decided to withdraw from the Division 1 and restart in Division 3 Södra Östsvenska.

Founded in 2003, women's team plays in Division 2 Södra Östsvenska.

The club completed its home games in the 1800 -seat Solnahallen and Råsta Park, Tallbacka and Västertorp. The club colors are black and gold.
