Aileen Riggin

Aileen Riggin ( born May 2, 1906 in Newport, Rhode Iceland, † 19 October 2002 in Honolulu) was an American swimmer and water jumper. She participated in two Olympic Games and won the first Olympic title for women in springboard diving.

Career

Aileen Riggin took part at the age of 14 years at the Summer Olympics in Antwerp in 1920. She started there in two competitions of the water jumping. In the art of jumping from one and three - meter board, she was the first, winning in front of their compatriots Helen Wainwright and Thelma Payne the gold medal. So she was the youngest Olympic champion until it was replaced in 1936 by the also built in the United States Marjorie knitted ring.
