Ailurophobia

Under Ailurophobie (Greek αἴλουρος ailuros " cat ", φόβος ( phobos ) "fear", other transcriptions: Aelurophobie, Elurophobie ) is defined as the fear of cats. Less frequently used terms for this behavior are Felinophobie, Galeophobie (actually Wiesel fear, as the Greeks knew long only Wiesel, cats were initially referred to as the weasel ) and Gatophobie ( modern-day, germanischstämmiges loanword ).

In contrast to other widely used animal phobias such as arachnophobia (fear of spiders) or Kynophobie ( fear of dogs ) is usually concealed by those affected Ailurophobie.

In an Iranian study on the prevalence of anxiety disorders, the high proportion of cats phobias was confirmed.
