AIM-82

The AIM -82 is a short-range air - to-air missile, which was planned by the U.S. Air Force for aircraft type F -15 as a replacement for the AIM-9 Sidewinder. In February 1970, the company Hughes Aircraft, General Dynamics, and Philco - Ford proposals (technical ) for the AIM -82 should do. In July of the same year the program was terminated, however, because at the same time, the U.S. Navy began development of the similarly designed AIM -95 Agile.
