Aime

Aime is a commune with 3541 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Savoie in the Rhone -Alpes.

Geography

Aime lies in the valley of Tarentaise below the ski resort of La Plagne. It is the capital of the canton of the same name. To the community in addition to the main town Aime include the three villages Villette, Tessens and Longefoy sur Aime.

History

In ancient times, the former capital of the ancient axima was a mountain people of the Ceutronen.

Aime was the starting point of the 142 -km 17th stage of the 2002 Tour de France after Cluses, which was won by Dario Frigo.
