Ain Traz

Ain Traz is a former seminary of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church, southeast of Beirut, Lebanon.

The property was originally the residence of El Saad family. Patriarch Agapios II Matar (1796-1812) founded in 1811 the seminary Ain Traz. The Druze plundered the estate in 1841, 1870 was the reopening by Patriarch Grégoire II Youssef Sayour. With the opening of the Seminary of St. Anne in Jerusalem seminar in Ain Traz was only used for official ecclesiastical acts.

In addition to a monastery the property is the summer residence of the head of the Church Melkite Patriarch of Antioch, His Beatitude Gregorios since 2001 by III. Laham. Since 1948 it is the seat of the Melkite Patriarchal Synod.
