Aioi Bridge

The Aioi Bridge (Japanese相 生 桥, Aioi -bashi ) is a bridge with a T-shaped floor plan in Hiroshima, Japan.

Originally built in 1932, she was the target of the U.S. atomic bomb attack on the city in 1945, when a slightly represented to be recognized destination because of its shape from the air. In 1983 it was rebuilt.

The longest part of the bridge spanning the river Ōta ( now generally: Hongawa ,本 川) in the north of the island, which includes the district Nakajima -chō. Approximately in the middle of the bridge branches off a connection from the bridge to the south of the island. During the reconstruction of the city of Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park was there, on a part of the former city, built.

Across the bridge, the Aioi Street (相生 通り, Aioi - dori ) runs with the main line ( Honsen ) tram Hiroshima.
