Air Fiji

Air Fiji was a national carrier of the State of Fiji, with headquarters in Suva. Every day about 65 flights were conducted. She was a member of the Pacific link group and employed three hubs around 210 employees.

History

Air Fiji was founded on 10 July 1967 under the name Air Pacific as a regional airline. In 1971, the company assumed the name of Fiji Air Services, while the internationally circulating Fiji Airways was named Air Pacific. Between 1982 and 1995 the company was flying under the name Air Fiji

In the early 1970s, the company aircraft of the type Britten- Norman BN -2 sat predominantly Islander. These were supplemented in 1979 with de Havilland Canada DHC- 6 Twin Otter and from 1986 with de Havilland DH114 Heron. As of 1992, the fleet was modernized with Harbin Y -12, and from 1994 Embraer EMB 110 gradually.

Air Fiji has ceased its operations on 1 May 2009. The owners of the airline were Aviation Investments to 55 %, the state Fiji to 11% and 34% private investors.

Objectives

Air Fiji Fiji joined several together and had only internationally Funafuti, the capital of the state of Tuvalu, as that operates goal.

Incidents

October 12, 2008 failed in a Harbin Y -12 with the registration DQ - FHC while scrolling Matei Taveuni Fiji airfield on the brakes. The machine came with your terminal and was heavily damaged. The 15 inmates escaped with a fright.
