Air-Hockey

Air hockey (also: air hockey ) is a skill game for two players, which is mainly played in casinos. In the U.S. and some other countries, sport competitions exist with championships in air hockey.

Material

The game is played on a special table in billiard table size. A flat, smooth plate serves as a playing field. In some tables, air is blown through hundreds of tiny holes, creating a cushion of air created under the game puck, on the slides the puck very quickly with virtually no friction. Each player has a special bat that resembles a small, about palm-sized Plastiksombrero. It protects the fingers of the player and allows for its hard-flexible outside of high acceleration of the puck. Both, therefore, and by the hard - elastic outer bands of the puck reaches a high speed game.

Regulate

Air hockey is an informal game on the exact rules, the players some usually before the start. However, there are some basic and further tournament rules:

  • The players stand at opposite ends of the table.
  • Hit the puck back and forth until it reaches the player target.
  • The game continues until one of the players a certain score - or has reached a specified before the game time has expired - usually seven or nine points.
  • The puck may only touch it with the bat, a contact with a part of the body is not allowed.
  • The puck must not be blocked by placing the bat is placed thereon.
  • The bat must not be removed from the board.

The puck can not be beaten when it coasts, otherwise there is a danger that this stands out from the field of play and is thrown off the table. To avoid that fly in arcades pucks at high speed through the air, the tables are often surrounded with nets or plexiglass.
