Air Marshall Islands

The Air Marshall Islands is the national airline of the Republic of the Marshall Islands Pacific based on the Majuro Atoll.

History

The airline was founded in 1980 as Airline of the Marshall Islands. Since 1990 she is called Air Marshall Islands.

At the beginning in 1980, the company had two small Nomad - propeller aircraft. So you could only use short routes within the island area. Only when it was decided, the much larger Hawker Siddeley HS 748 to purchase, they were also able aircraft the neighbors such as Kiribati, Tuvalu, or even to visit Fiji. In 1993, a Douglas DC-8- 62 was leased, with one to 1994 on distant targets, such as Honolulu on the Hawaiian Islands, was heading.

Today, the company operates two Dornier 228 and a 34 -seat Dash 8 and no longer flies only on request, but keeps the national level to a regular schedule.

Offices also for freight traffic there is on the four largest atolls Majuro, Ebeye, Kwajalein and Tarawa.

At the moment (as of 2007) the airline has the following goals in their flight plan: Ailuk, Aur, Bikini Atoll, Ebon Atoll, Eniwetok, Jabwot, Jaluit, Jeh Iceland ( Ailinglapalap ) Kaben island, Kili Island, Kwajalein, Lae Atoll, Likiep, Majkin, Majuro, Maloelap, Mejit, Mili, Namorik, Rongelap Atoll, Tinak island Ujae, Utirik, Woja Iceland, Wotho and Wotje.
