Air South West Limited was a British regional airline based in Plymouth and a subsidiary of Sutton Harbour Holdings Plc, which was also the owner and operator of the Plymouth airport closed in the meantime.

History

The airline was founded on 15 January 2003 Place Dean Technology, renamed Air Southwest was June 3, 2003, after being called by between 2003 Mid South Aviation from 27 March. The airline should bump into the gap left by the withdrawal of British Airways in southwestern England.

On October 26, 2003 one day after the cessation of scheduled services by British Airways, was the first scheduled flight from Plymouth via Newquay to Gatwick Airport. On 11 April 2005 a new hub in Newquay has been set up with direct flights to Dublin and Leeds / Bradford via Bristol. At the same time Newquay was the crew base with five flight attendants, pilots and ten a machine. A third crew base and hub was established at Bristol airport.

In September 2010 it was announced that Air Southwest is accepted subject to regulatory approval by Eastern Airways. In July 2011 it was announced that Air Southwest their bases in Plymouth and Newquay, and thus give up the flight operations under their own name until the fall of 2011 would successively, which is now also done.

Objectives

Air Southwest served until the end of September 2011 from their bases in Plymouth and Newquay numerous destinations within the UK, including Jersey, Bristol and Manchester, as well as Dublin and Cork, two destinations in Ireland.
