TRACON is an acronym for Terminal Radar Approach Control. A TRACON is a device for air traffic control and usually located near a major airport. There are typically controlled aircraft within a radius of 56-93 km ( 30-50 NM) around the airport and between ground and 3000 m to 4500 m ( 10,000 to 15,000 feet). In radio communications, the TRACON is sometimes called Approach Control or Departure Control.
