Aires Ali

Aires Bonifácio Baptista Ali ( born December 6, 1955 in Unango ) is a Mozambican politician. He belongs to the Frente then on Libertação de Moçambique ( FRELIMO ).

Life

Ali comes from the province of Niassa in northern Mozambique. He worked from 1976 as a teacher at the FRELIMO secondary school in the district Namaacha Namaacha. In 1977 he was Headmaster (Director) of Francisco Manyanga Secondary School in Maputo. From 1980 to 1986, Ali was the head of the state education system ( Provincial Director of Education ) in the province of Nampula Mozambique to the east. In the years 1989/1990 he worked as bureau chief of the then Minister of Education and Culture. 1991-1992, he served as National Director of School Social Welfare program responsible for state funding for schools and other educational institutions.

1995-2000 he was governor of the province of Niassa, then 2000-2004 Governor of Inhambane province in southern Mozambique.

He was Minister of Education and Culture, after the Ministry of Culture was merged with the Ministry of Education and had thus again get the same cut as soon after the independence of Mozambique in 2005. Ali sparked 2005 the Minister under suspicion of corruption Alcido Nguenha from.

Was appointed Prime Minister of Mozambique, Aires Ali from Mozambican President Armando Guebuza on 16 January 2010. He thus entered the successor of Luisa Diogo. On 8 October 2012, he was replaced as part of a reshuffle of Alberto Vaquina.

Ali is a longtime personal friend of Guebuza and acted as his possible successor.
