Airgíalla

Airgíalla (also Airgialla, Uriel, Orial, Orgialla, Orgiall, Oryallia, Ergallia ) is in today's Irish Oirialla and in English: called Oriel. Oriel was an Irish Federation and a irischens Kingdom, which was established in the 7th century. It was in today's Leinster and Ulster and includes the present counties of Louth and Monaghan.

The Airgíalla were a group mostly of unrelated dynasties, which were located in what is now southern and central Ulster. They founded around the 7th century a military alliance. From the term Airgíalla was assumed that it was derived from the Irish term orgialla (English " hostage of gold" ). Recent research rather go on the assumption that it originates from the term Airgíallne ( engl. "additional clientship ").
