Airport Express (MTR)

The Airport Express (Chinese机场 快 线/机场 快 线, Jichang Kuàixìan Pinyin, Jyutping gei1 coeng4 faai3 sin3 ) is a line of Mass Transit Railway (MTR ) in Hong Kong. In contrast to the other MTR lines opened in 1998 and Airport Express does not serve the commuter traffic, but as a quick link to the airport. For this reason, the fare is higher than usual.

The train is traveling most of the Tung Chung Line, but has its own platforms and passing loops in the passed without stopping stations. The travel time on the 35.3 km long route is 24 minutes. In the Hong Kong and Kowloon stations it is possible to abandon the baggage.

The rolling stock was supplied by CAF together with Adtranz and assembled in Spain. The Airport Express trains are a 2 2 seating comfortably equipped than the stehplatz optimized vehicles of other MTR lines. Next to each door there is a luggage rack. Screens show news and departure times and check -in desk of the flights in the next few hours. The reference position is indicative of an LED strip.

2005, a short extension from the airport was opened to the exhibition center AsiaWorld- Expo.
