AIST 1

AIST 1 (Russian АИСТ for Stork) is the prototype of the Russian small satellite series AIST, which was developed by a group of students, graduate students and researchers from the State University of Aerospace Samara in cooperation with TsSKB -Progress.

The satellite is designed to measure, among other things, the Earth's magnetic field and detect micrometeorites.

AIST 1 was launched from Plesetsk 12:30 UTC clock by a Soyuz 2.1W on 28 December 2013. This was the first use of a Soyuz rocket with only two stages.
