Ait Baha

Aït Baha (sometimes written Ait Baha ) is a small town in the province of Chtouka - Ait Baha in the Moroccan Souss -Massa -Draa.

Location

Aït Baha is located on the R105 in the western Anti-Atlas Mountains of about 530 m above sea level. inst in the southwest of Morocco. Distances to Agadir or Inezgane be about 70 or 60 km. The city Biougra located about 35 kilometers north-west; up to Tafraoute is about 90 km to the southeast. Just south of Ait Baha is a small artificial lake, which is fed only by the winter rains.

Demographics

Until the 1970s, Aït Baha was just a larger Berber village of about 500 inhabitants, after the road connection between Agadir and Tafraoute ( R105 ) was, however, traffic- convenient and fast grew accordingly. So the place in 2004 and in 2012 about 5,000 had been about 10,000 inhabitants. The population increase is primarily due to migration of Berber families in the surrounding mountain areas.

Economy

The most important role in the economy of the city play free trade and craft. Between Biougra and Aït Baha is a cement factory. Many men work in the cities of the north, or in France, so that the place lives mainly in money transfer services.

Attractions

Consisting of new, plastered and painted in different shades of red houses city has - except the Sunday market held - on any tourist attractions, but is well suited for trips to the Agadiren the different Berber tribes in the eastern hinterland ( Imi'm grain, Imchiguegueln, Agadir Guimst, Imhilene and others). Also located about 30 km southeast abandoned Berber village Tioulit and located on a hilltop Ksar Tizourgane are worth seeing.
