Aivars Lembergs

Aivars Lembergs ( born September 26, 1953 in Jēkabpils ) is a Latvian politician and entrepreneur. He is since 1988 the mayor of Ventspils.

Biography

Aivars Lembergs closed after attending school in Jēkabpils 1977, studied economics at the University of Latvia in Riga from. He was a member of the Communist Party of Latvia. In 1988 he was first elected mayor of Ventspils and since then elected five times again. In 1994 he founded his own political party " Latvijai un Ventspilij " ( For Latvia and Ventspils).
