Aiwa

Aiwa was a Japanese company that had specialized in multimedia devices. Aiwa was founded in 1951 and introduced initially only microphones ago. The company achieved fame with pioneering work in the field of hi -compatible cassette recorder and produced Japan's first digital tape recorder.

However, this high level of innovation could not keep the company and almost went bankrupt in the 1990s, although at that time almost the entire Japanese management has been down to the local companies replaced by Sony manager.

BASF had contracts with Aiwa and has some tape recorder, such as the radio recorder 9300 and 9301, sold under its own name.

1 October 2002 Aiwa was then acquired 100 percent of Sony. At this time, Aiwa had already announced the first LCD TVs for retailers. This offer was immediately withdrawn, and only years later Sony offered under its own brand name flat- screen TV on.

Aiwa 's own works, including a state of the art manufacturing facility in Wales, were sold and financed with the proceeds and one for Aiwa pending in Japan - tax loss allocation, the Acquisition. In this case, the bottom line for the fiscal year 2002/2003 for Sony remained a small surplus, which improved their balance somewhat.

After the takeover Aiwa sold mainly devices from the audio field, such as hi -fi systems, Discman and MP3 players, to remote controls as an extended distribution channel for Sony.

In 2004, new products were introduced, but received negative press reports. In the same year Sony introduced a support for the Aiwa products. From 2005 Aiwa products were only sold in some countries. In 2006, Sony introduced the Aiwa brand a whole.
