Aiwo District

Aiwo (formerly Aiue ) is a district on the island nation of Nauru, in the southwest of the island. It borders Denigomodu to the north, the east and Buada at Boe in the south. It is 1.1 km ² and has 1,220 inhabitants. It is sometimes referred to as the unofficial capital of Nauru, although actually Yaren Nauru is treated as capital. But Nauru has no official capital.

Aiwo has its name from the historic village Aiwo; according to Paul Hambruch it means "peaceful".
