Ajijic [ a.xixik ] is located on the largest lake in Mexico, the Lake Chapala in Jalisco. The town has about 10,500 inhabitants and is situated 1540 m above sea level.

Due to the year-round mild climate, many retirees from the U.S., Canada have settled there but also from Europe.
