Akaflieg München Mü30 Schlacro

The Akaflieg München Mü 30 " Schlacro " is an art and towing aircraft of student Fliegergruppe Akaflieg Munich, where the idea was in the foreground, the excess power that has an aerobatic aircraft to use for the operation as a tow plane. So to be reduced by the economically viable towing the cost of aerobatics. These considerations also the name of Schlacro project goes - drag and ACROflugzeug forth.

History

The construction was started in 1985, with the installation of the Porsche engine PFM 3200 was planned in the early years. However, the production of this engine in 1990 was set. So had to, although already parts of the hull had been completed, a new engine to be found. The choice fell on the six - cylinder boxer engine Lycoming AEIO -540 with 223 kW. The engine change brought major structural changes with it, which considerably delayed the project. Among other things, the wings 150 mm had to be advanced in order to achieve the desired focus. The first flight took place only in 2000. In the following years was the prototype intensive flight testing, in which some problems surfaced in particular with the cooling of the engine. After further alterations flight testing finally was able to continue in 2007, so that the final airworthiness certification was granted in December 2011.

Construction

The Mü 30 is designed as a two-seat low-wing, which is controlled by the pilot from the rear seat. It was approved by the Federal Aviation Authority, both as a drag as well as aerobatic aircraft. The hull is made of welded steel pipes which are covered with fiber composite parts. The wings with a span of 8.96 meters are made in a consistent lightweight construction with carbon fiber reinforced plastic. The structure is designed for a load factor of / - 9g designed and has an empty weight of 759 kg. Motorised is the plane with a Textron Lycoming engine AEIO -540, which provides 223 kW.

Use

Currently, the MT 30 " Schlacro " with the aircraft registration mark D- EKDF used by the Akaflieg Munich at the gliding center Koenigsdorf as tow plane for gliders. Furthermore participates the aircraft in national and international fairs, such as first time in 2008 at the International Aerospace Exhibition in Berlin.
