Akaflieg München Mü5 Wastl

The Akaflieg München Mü 5 " Wastl " was not airworthy glider student Fliegergruppe Akaflieg Munich, which was designed as a tailless airplane.

History

End of the 1920s several designers working on tailless aircraft. So also built the Akaflieg Munich in 1930 within just three months, the Mü 5, which was also called flying egg because of their shape. In the first attempts, the aircraft flew only a few seconds before it came to a tipping to one side. This problem could not be resolved and so the prototype was soon on a flight trying to break and joined in a long series of unsuccessful tailless aircraft projects despite some revisions.

Variants

By Mü 7, there were plans to use the wings of the mu 5 " Wastl " for a project of a light wind sailor. However, the project was not realized due to lack of time.
