Description

Vegetative characteristics

The two kinds of Akaniaceae family grow as deciduous ( Bretschneidera ) or evergreen trees. The young shoot axes have separated vascular bundles. The change-constant leaves are imparipinnate with serrated or ganzrandigen leaflets.

Generative features

The slightly zygomorphic flowers are radial symmetry or fünfzählig double perianth. The five sepals are more or less fused. The five petals are rotated or not. The androecium consists Akania of one or two circles, each with four or five fertile stamens or Bretschneidera from eight fertile stamens. The pollen is COLPAT. Per carpel there are two apical, pendant (with Bretschneidera campylotrope ) ovules with bistomaler micropyle. The scar is small and three-lobed.

The loculicidalen fruit capsules open at maturity. The seed coat ( testa) is thick with thick-walled cells. The endosperm may be present. The cotyledons ( cotyledons ) are great.

The basic chromosome number is x = 9, both genera are dipoid than 2n = 18

Dissemination

Bretschneidera sinensis is in southeastern China, the bordering Vietnam, as well as Taiwan and Akania bidwillii is native to the rain forests of Australia.

System

The Akaniaceae family was erected in 1912 by Otto Stapf in Kew Bulletin of Miscellaneous Information, p 380. The Akaniaceae family, together with the family Tropaeolaceae the basal group within the order Brassicales.

The Akaniaceae family S. L. consists of two monotypic genera:

  • Akania Hook. f, with only one type: Akania bidwillii ( Hend. ex Hogg ) Mabb. ( Syn: . Akania hillii Hook f, Akania lucens Airy Shaw): With radial symmetry flower and endosperm, but maybe without myrosin cells.
  • Bretschneidera sinensis Hemsl. ( Syn: Bretschneidera yunshanensis Chun & FC how): With slightly zygomorphic flowers

It was debatable whether the two types are to be managed as a family, or separately as two families, according to this view, Bretschneidera sinensis alone forms the family Bretschneideraceae Engler & Gilg, and Akania bidwillii alone the Akaniaceae ramming s.str.
