Akçakoca

Akçakoca is a town and a district of the Turkish province of Düzce. The village is located about 30 kilometers north of the provincial capital Düzce on the Black Sea.

The district is located in the north of the province. It is bordered on the east by the province of Zonguldak, on the south by Yığılca, to the central district, at Çilimli and Cumayeri, on the west by the province of Sakarya and in the north to the Black Sea. The highway D- 010, which begins in the west at Karasu and east of the Black Sea coast is via Zonguldak, Sinop, Samsun and Trabzon to the Georgian border, which crosses the city and the county. To the east of the county town of which branches off the lead after Düzce D -655. In the south of the district lies the mountain range of Akçakoca Dağları, which runs east to Zonguldak. In the West, this is followed by the 1152 meter high Kaplan Dede Dagi, of two smaller rivers flowing north into the sea. Near the village Aktas, about seven kilometers southwest of Akçakoca, they form remarkable waterfalls. The western border of Sakarya approximately follows the river Melen Çayı.

In Akçakoca was in ancient times, the trading center slide or Diospolis, who belonged to Bithynia city Prusias ad Hypium.
