Akhtala (Gurjaani)

Achtala (Georgian: ახტალა, ɑχtɑlɑ ) is a spa town in Georgia, it is located in the Kakheti region and is a western suburb of the city Gurjaani.

Achtala is located 122 km east of the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, on the right bank of the river.

For Achtala temperate continental climate is characteristic, there are hot summers and mild winters. In Achtala the annual rainfall is 700 mm.

News about the place Achtala can be found in the works of the Georgian historian Wachuschti Batonischwili (gen. Bagrationi ) from the 18th century. A degraded on the outskirts of mineral-containing sludge is suitable for medical and therapeutic purposes and attracts over 80 years of spa guests. In 1924 a mineral spring was discovered in 1932 was a small sanatorium and 1935 was the health clinic opened.
