Aki Berg

Aki- Petteri Berg Arvid ( born July 28, 1977 in Raisio ) is a retired Finnish professional ice hockey player who was most recently with TPS Turku in the Finnish SM- liiga under contract.

Career

Aki- Petteri Berg began his career as a hockey player with the TPS Turku, for by 1995 he was active from 1993 in the SM- liiga. During this time he was once Vice- Champion and one champion with his team. Then the defender in the NHL Entry Draft in 1995 was selected in the first round as the third overall player of the Los Angeles Kings. For the compact he first ran from 1995 to 1998 as well as in the National Hockey League, as from 1995 to 1997 for their farm team, the Phoenix Roadrunners of the International Hockey League on. For the 1998/99 season the defender returned to his Finnish homeland, where he was champion again with Turku. Then played mountain the other one and a half years in the NHL for the Los Angeles Kings, who submitted him in the course of the 2000/01 season at their league rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs.

For the Canadian mountain was the following five seasons on the ice. Only during the lockout in the 2004/ 05 NHL season played the links contactors for Timrå IK of the Swedish Elitserien. In summer 2006, the Finn eventually returned for the third time back to Turku, for which he was active in the SM- liiga to the end of season 2010/11. The temporary active as team captain of TPS defender declared on July 28, 2011 his playing career due to a knee injury ended.

Internationally

For mountain Finland participated in the Under-18 European Junior Championships in 1995 and the U20 World Youth Championship in 1997, and the World Cup of Hockey in 2004 in part. In addition, he was in the squad of Finland in the World Championships in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2006 and 2007, and at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, 2002 Salt Lake City and Torino 2006.
