History

The university was founded in 1949 by the merger of three state schools. The three were:

  • The mountain technical school Akita (秋田 鉱 山 専 门 学校, Akita Kozan Semmon Gakko )
  • The normal school Akita (秋田 师范学校, Akita shihan Gakko founded 1878) and

Other professors have also been influenced by the rectors and studied in Freiberg. The Mining Museum (鉱 业 博物馆) at the University of Akita has created a collection of mining models, which in 1922 was bought by Prof. Tsuboi in Freiberg.
