Akram al-Hawrani

Akram al - Haurani, also Hourani (Arabic أكرم الحوراني, DMG Akram al - Ḥawrānī; born 1915 in Hama, Syria, † February 24, 1996 in Amman, Jordan), a Syrian politician and co-founder of the Arab Socialist Baath Party was ( ASBP ).

Life

While studying law in Beirut and Damascus, al - Haurani was first trailer of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party. In 1939 he took the profession of a lawyer and co-founded with his brother, the youth party. Just four years later, he became in 1943 deputy in the Syrian Parliament. From 1948 to 1949 he was a volunteer in the Palestine War.

After the defeat in 1949 Syrian Akram al - Haurani acted as one of the masterminds of the coup of Husni az- Za'ims and was under this until 1950 agriculture, defense and information ministers. In 1958 he was promoted to Vice President of the Union of Egypt with Syria. However, he was an opponent of Gamal Abdel Nasser and therefore participating in 1961 on the elimination of Syria. Because of its entry into the separatist government in 1962 was his dismissal and expulsion from the Baath Party, his followers founded the former Arab Socialist Party as a new Arab Socialist Movement.
