AKS Chorzów

AKS Chorzów is a Polish sports club based in Chorzów ( German: Chorzów ), the (short: VfR Chorzów ) under the name Association for lawn games Chorzów was founded in 1910 as a German sports club. During the first decades of its existence, there were several name changes: 1923 after connecting Ostoberschlesiens to Poland in Amatorski club Sportowy Królewska Huta ( " AKS Królewska Huta " ), 1934, the club in Amatorski club Sportowy Chorzów ( " AKS Chorzów ") was renamed, after the annexation of the territory by the Germans in 1939, the club was renamed Germania FV Chorzów and finally it came after the Second world War, the name-change in AKS Chorzów. In the season 12/13 AKS plays in the fourth Polish league.

With the partition of Upper Silesia in June 1922 Königshütte fell to Poland. However, the newly established Regional Association of the Polish Football Association PZPN initially opposed to the inclusion of the German clubs. Then set up 143 of them under the leadership of VfR Königshütte in July 1922 " Province Football Association ". But penetrated the PZPN headquarters in Krakow on the inclusion of the German clubs in the Polish regional association. To the compromise includes the renaming of numerous clubs. The VfR Königshütte called AKS Królewska Huta.
