Aksai Kazakh Autonomous County

The Autonomous District Aksay Kazak (阿克塞 哈萨克族 自治县Akesai Hasakezu Zizhixian ) belongs to the administrative area of the prefecture-level city of Jiuquan in northwest China's Gansu Province. He occupies the whole south of the northwest lobe of the province and covers an area of ​​31,374 km ². To the north it borders on the district-free city Dunhuang and the Subei Mongolian Autonomous County, Qinghai Province to the south and to the west by the district government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Hami. The political, economic and cultural center Aksays is the greater community Hongliuwan; it lies in the central northern part of the Autonomous Okrug. With its almost 9,000 inhabitants Aksay is one of the least populated counties in China.

In Gansu Province Aksay is a " circle of returnees " known. Overall, living here 348 households ( approximately 2,200 people ) who have returned from abroad to China. Administrative Divisions

Since the administrative reform in December 2006, consists of Autonomous District Aksay Kazak only of a large village and two municipalities:

  • Greater community Hongliuwan (红 柳湾镇), center, seat of the county government;
  • Community Akqi (阿克 旗 ​​乡);
  • Community Alteng (阿勒 腾 乡).

The hitherto existing communities Heping和平 乡, Minzhu民主 乡, Tuanjie团结 乡, Jianshe建设 乡and多 坝 沟乡Duobagou were dissolved.
