Aktion Erntefest

" Operation Harvest Festival " was the codename of a genocidal action of the Nazis.

On November 3, 1943 - planned and coordinated - more than 43,000 Jews, both men and women and children, in three remaining camps in the General Government of Poland, Trawniki, Majdanek Poniatowa and murdered.

The Nazi leadership, especially under Heinrich Himmler ordered in light of the loss-making battle of Stalingrad, the weaker military forces on the entire Eastern Front and the resurgent Soviet military resistance to extinction of the camp and the murder of so many people in one day, almost without warning, to prevent possible riots, as they had been in the Warsaw ghetto in April 1943, in the extermination camp Treblinka on 2 August 1943 and in the extermination camp Sobibor on 14 October 1943.

Himmler gave the order to this mass murder of Friedrich- Wilhelm Krüger further, the Higher SS and Police Leader in the General Government of the SS and Police Leader in the Lublin district, Jacob Sporrenberg delegated these commands.

The mass extermination of 43,000 Jews on November 3, 1943 German SS and police units ended the Aktion Reinhardt.
