Al-Faw Palace

The Al Faw Palace is a palace in Baghdad ( Iraq). It is approximately five kilometers away from the city's international airport. Its construction was commissioned by Saddam Hussein in order to commemorate the reconquest of the Al Faw Peninsula in the first Gulf war against Iran. The complex, which consists of numerous villas and other buildings, is now within the Camp Victory, one of the largest military bases in the US-led coalition in the Iraq war. The palace is currently used among other things as the headquarters for the Multi- National Force Iraq.
