Al-Hamidiyah Souq

The Suq al - Hamidiyye (also Suq al - Hamidiyye ) is the most famous bazaar of Damascus. It is named after the Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamid II. The Souk is situated in the old town. The largest and longest indoor market of the bazaar was built over an old Roman road that once led to the temple of Jupiter in the heart of the old Roman settlement. Today, this 500 m long covered market hall connects the Shari'a al - Thawra (the " Revolution Road ") with the old temple of Jupiter built the Umayyad Mosque.
