Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya

Al - Quwa al - Dschawiya FC (Arabic القوة الجوية, DMG al - Quwa al - Ǧauwīya ) is an Iraqi football club based in Baghdad. " Al - Quwa al - Dschawiya " is Arabic for " Luftwaffe".

History

The club was founded on July 4, 1931 under the name Gipsy Moth and is the oldest club in the country. In 1963 they won the Super League Baghdad and the Iraqi Cup, the first title. 1974 al - Quwa was national champion for the first time. Overall, they won the championship five times, most recently in 2005, and seven times the cup competition, last in 1997. Internationally, the club was very successful. Three appearances in the AFC Champions League, one at the Asian Club Championship and the AFC Cup Winners Cup, the club has seen. Best result was the second round of the Asian Club Championship 1999. 2007 it was Iraqi vice-champion.
