Al-Wathiq

Al - Wathiq bi- ' llāh, Haaroon ibn al - Mu'tasim (Arabic الواثق بالله هارون بن المعتصم, DMG al - Wāṯiq bi- ' llāh Haaroon b al -Mu ʿ tasim; . * 816, † 10 August 847) was the ninth Abbasid Caliph ( 842-847 ).

Abu Jafar Harun al - Wathiq succeeded his father al - Mutasim to ( 833-842 ). His reign was characterized primarily by the revolt of the Banu Hilal and Banu Sulaym in the Hejaz ( 844-847 ), which could be suppressed in lengthy fights.
