Alabama State Route 101

The Alabama State Route 101 (abbreviated AL 101 ) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Alabama, which runs in a north -south direction.

The State Route 24 begins west of Moulton on the former route of the Alabama State Route and ends after 63 kilometers near Lexington on the border of the State of Tennessee. After crossing the border, the road runs as Tennessee State Route 227 on.

Course

After about two kilometers after the start of AL 101, she meets the new route of State Route 24 in the village of Ne Smith the street from the Alabama State Route 157 in Town Creek, and of the route of State Route 20 is crossed. About five miles to the junction of the Alabama State Route 184 crosses the AL 101 on the Wheeler Dam to the Tennessee River. In the south of the town of Elgin State Route meets U.S. Highway 72 and north of Lexington on the Alabama State Route 64, before going on to the border with Tennessee in the Tennessee State Route 277.

History

The Alabama State Route was opened in 1940 as the connection of the places Lexington and Town Creek. After 19 years, the line was extended in 1959 to a southern section to the former State Route 24.
