Alabama State Route 49

The Alabama State Route 49 (abbreviated AL 49 ) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Alabama, which runs in a north -south direction.

Course

The State Route begins at Interstate 85 in Franklin and ends at Cheaha State Park in Alabama Stata Route 281 First runs north to U.S. Highway 280 to Dadeville, leading among other things to Alexander City and Birmingham. North of Dadeville AL 49 traverses the rural area and smaller places like New Site or Mellow Valley.

History

Originally proceeded State Route of Tallassee after Dadeville. After some northern expansion between 1950 and 1969, the road near Heflin ended on U.S. Highway 78 in 1973 AL 49 has been extended to the south to I- 85. The last major change was in 1995, when the new AL 281 replaced the northern part.
