Alain Richard

Alain Richard ( born August 29, 1945 in Paris ) is a French politician. From 1997 to 2002 he was a French defense minister.

Life

Alain Richard is a graduate of the École nationale d'administration, he attended 1969-71.

Political action

In 1975, he joined the Parti Socialiste ( PS), and from 1977 was mayor of Saint- Ouen- l'Aumône in the department of Val- d'Oise, a community of about 23,000 residents. From 1978 to 1993 he was directly elected deputy for the department of Val- d'Oise in the French National Assembly. In the cabinet Jospin he was 2 June 1997 until his resignation on May 6, 2002 Secretary of Defense. Since 2003 he works for a company founded by Dominique Strauss -Kahn and Michel Rocard Foundation "À gauche en Europe ".
