Alain Touraine

Alain Touraine ( born August 3, 1925 in Herman Ville- sur -Mer ) is a French sociologist.

Life

In 1956, Touraine at the University of Chile, the Centre for Work and workers studies, 1958 in Paris, a working group on industrial sociology. This later became the center for the study of social change. Later he founded more centers, as in 1981, the Centre for Sociological Analysis and Intervention (Centre d'Analyse et d'Intervention sociologiques, short CADIS ). In 1995 he was awarded the Erasmus Medal of the Academia Europaea, the 1998 Premio Amalfi. In 2010 he was honored together with Zygmunt Bauman with the Prince of Asturias Award in the category of communication and human sciences. Since 1998 he is member of the Academia Brasileira de Letras.

Touraine is the author of over 20 books.
