Alajos Szokolyi

Alajos Szokolyi [ ɒlɒjoʃ Sokoji ] ( slovak: Alojz Sokol or German Aloysius Szokol; born June 19, 1871 in Hronec, now Slovakia, then Kisgaram, Austria - Hungary, † September 9, 1932 in Bernecebaráti, Hungary) was a participant of the first Summer Olympics 1896 in Athens.

He was with the American Francis Lane for the Kingdom of Hungary in the 100 -meter run with a time of 12.6 seconds of third parties. 1896 Third of a competition went away empty-handed. The first was a silver and the second a bronze medal. The timekeeper for the 100 - meter race stopped only the time for the two first. The remaining times are estimated. In the first elimination round of the 100-meter competition he had won second place with a time of 12.75 seconds behind Lane.

In the triple jump, he was having a width of 12.30 m fourth. In the first elimination round of the 110- meter hurdles race he finished second behind the British Grantley Goulding. With this course, he qualified for the final round, in which he, however, did not compete.

In 1896 he was Hungarian champion over 100 yards.
