Alamo Square, San Francisco

The historic Alamo Square is a park and neighborhood of San Francisco in the U.S. state of California. It was created by Mayor James Van Ness 1856/1857. The park covers four blocks on a hill. It is bordered by the Hayes Street in the south, Fulton Street to the north, Scott Street to the west and the Steiner Street to the east.

A row of Victorian houses, called "Postcard Row" ( postcard series ), is one of the most photographed residential streets in America. Some of the houses are colorful painted, which is why they are also called Painted Ladies. Especially the magnificent row of houses on Steiner Street is the most famous example of the Queen Anne style, this was developed around 1890.
