Alan Campbell (rower)

Alan Campbell ( born May 9, 1983 in Coleraine, Northern Ireland ) is a British rower. He won a silver medal to 2011 and two bronze medals at the world championships.

Career

Alan Campbell won the 2003 Diamond Sculls, the one's race at the Henley Royal Regatta. In the same year he finished in eighth place at the U23 World Regatta. In 2004 he debuted with the quadruple sculls at the World Cup, at the Olympic Games in Athens in the quadruple sculls finished in twelfth place. In the World Cup season in 2005, the British sculls reached three times the A-final, at the World Rowing Championships 2005, the boat missed the A-final, finishing in seventh place.

In 2006, Campbell returned to the One and won his first World Cup regatta in Munich, with a second place in Poznan and a fourth place in Lucerne, he also won the One World Cup. The World Rowing Championships 2006, he reached namely the A - final, but finished there only the sixth and last place. 2007 Campbell won for the second time the Diamond Sculls at the World Championships in Munich, he reached the fourth place. The following year, Campbell won again at the World Cup regatta in Munich and took fourth place in Lucerne. After an injury break, he returned in time for the Beijing Olympics back into the boat, but only reached the fifth place.

2009 Campbell won the World Cup regatta in Banyoles. At the World Championships in Poznan, he delivered a fight with the New Zealander Mahe Drysdale, who crossed the finish line just one second ahead of Campbell; with silver Campbell had won his first international medal. The following year, the World Championships were held in Drysdales home on Lake Karapiro, the Czech Ondřej Synek won ahead of Drysdale and Campbell. 2011 Campbell won for the third time the Diamond Sculls, won at the World Championships in Bled Drysdale before Synek and Campbell. At the Olympic Games in 2012 Campbell erruderte the bronze medal behind Drysdale and Synek.
