Alan Kelly (politician)

Alan Kelly (Irish Ó Ceallaigh Alan, born July 13, 1975 in Limerick, County Limerick ) is an Irish politician and since 2011 a member of Dáil Éireann. Previously, he was from 2007 to 2009 Member of Seanad Éireann from 2009 to 2011 and Member of the European Parliament.

Kelly studied English and History at University College Cork. In 1995 he received his B. A. there Hons. , And 1997 M.Phil. Hons. in political science. He attended Boston College until 1999, and finally the University College Dublin.

In 2007, Kelly, who was active in the Irish Labour Party has long been, for his party in the Seanad Éireann 23. This he was a member until he was elected to the European Parliament in the European elections in Ireland 2009. In the by-election in December 2009 for his vacant seat in Seanad Éireann, the candidate of the Green Party, Niall Ó Brolcháin was elected.
